About CBI Preschool

CBI Preschool is a nurturing environment where your child can develop their social-emotional, cognitive, gross motor and fine motor skills through play, experimentation and hands-on experiences. Our teachers care about your child. We strive to help every young student, giving them opportunities to grow in all areas of their development. Our director, teachers, and families collaborate to make the school an exciting place for your child to thrive.

CBI Preschool is a place where Jewish customs, holidays, Shabbat and basic Jewish concepts are part of our daily life. We are open to the community, and accept families regardless of race, color, religion, creed, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

History

Our school was founded in 1975 by a group of congregant families who were seeking to establish a preschool taught by early childhood specialists where children could learn, grow, and play in a Jewish setting. Originally named the Hedwig Gruenewald Nursery School, in honor of the wife of Rabbi Max Gruenewald who was CBI’s rabbi at the time, the school quickly became a neighborhood fixture and destination for many young families. Over the years the school’s name was changed to the Hedwig Gruenewald Early Childhood Center and now CBI Preschool, and continues to be a thriving environment in Millburn and the surrounding areas, welcoming children and families of all backgrounds.
